Easy Steps to Installing the MikroTik RouterOS

  1. Booting via CDROM.
  2. Choose the package that will be installed as shown in the following menu:

    (*) System (*) LCD (*) Synchronous
    (*) PPP (*) NTP (*) Telephony

    (*) Advanced-Tools (*) RouterBOARD (*) User Manager

    (*) ISDN (*) Security (*) Wireless-test
    Should select only the packages that are available (press â € ~ aa € ™), if its hard disk capacity is sufficient. If all the packages to install, only takes about 100 MB of hard disk capacity.   12. Select â € ~ aa € ™ to start the configuration of the IP Address and Gateway. It will show the menu:
    a - add ip address
    g - setup default gateway
    x - exit menu
    your choice:
  13. Then select another â € ~ aa € ™, it will appear:
    enable interface: ether1 (just hit ENTER) ip address / netmask: 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 (example)
  14. Then, the gateway setup (select â € ~ ga € ™). Enter the Gateway IP Address.
    for example: 192.168.0.254
  15. Select â € ~ xA € ™ to end configuration.
  16. The next step, try accessing the MikroTik RouterOS already installed earlier from another computer. Open browser, type http://192.168.0.1. Then download the application from the front page winbox.exe browser.

  20. To speed up resolving domain-name, enable the DNS cache by choosing IP â € "DNS. Enter the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS are obtained from the upstream provider. For example: 202.155.0.10 and 202.155.0.20. Then put in the â € œAllow Remote Requestsâ €. Or type in the ip dns set primary-dns = 202.155.0.10 secondary-dns = 202.155.0.20 allow-remote-requests = yes from the console.
  21. RouterOS is ready to operate. For some cases need to optimize the settings for network performance more stable.
