PLAYING FOR CHANGE - NEWS UPDATES

Diposkan oleh Maestro Goberan on Tuesday, August 25, 2009

It is time for another exciting update from Playing For Change. The entire PFC Team has been hard at work gearing up for our upcoming Fall tour, and it is going to be amazing! Kicking off on October 20th in Alexandria, VA, the PFC Band is going to be performing in over 20 cities in the US and Canada, finally ending up in Vancouver, CA on November 19th. Tickets are on-sale now, and are going fast-- for a complete listing of dates, venues, and links to purchase please visit the Playing For Change Band page at http://playingforchange.com/band.

We are also proud to announce the launch of Episode 15, the 2009 Spring Tour Highlights. This episode is a combination of live performance clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and artist interviews from the Playing For Change Band's 5-city promotional tour earlier this year. By watching this episode, you'll get a great sense of what the PFC Band is all about, and a slice of life from the individual musicians who make it such a special experience. We hope you enjoy this piece, and share it with your friends and family!

Additionally, we are excited to announce the pre-sale of the documentary film, Playing For Change: Peace Through Music. A 57-minute version of this film is currently being broadcast nationally on PBS in the United States-- this, however is the first time the full length film (25 minutes longer than the PBS version, also including a 15-minute piece exploring the filmmakers' journey) will be available.

The film is available by itself, or as part of the Songs Around the World [Deluxe Edition], and will ship on October 13th.

Thank you for your continued support of this Global Music Movement-- we hope to see you at one of our shows soon!

ON THE ROAD WITH THE PLAYING FOR CHANGE BAND

It has been an exciting couple of weeks for Playing For Change! The weekend before last the Playing For Change Band headlined the Jazz/World stage at Glastonbury. For that very special performance, we were joined by Baba Maal, Vusi Mahlasela, Tinariwen, and the Omagh Community Youth Choir! Following our performance at Glastonbury, the PFC Band returned to the states to perform a free show at the Santa Monica Pier last Thursday that was attended by over 10,000 people! - To read more about the show and view photos check out the latest (here)

If you were unable to catch either of these performances, don't worry-- we'll be sharing songs and footage with you in the future.

On another high note, I am very excited to announce that we will be performing on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien...Tonight, July 9th! So be sure to let everyone know and watch with your family and friends at 11:35 PM.

Finally, if you live in (or near) New Orleans, the PFC Band is going to be playing Tipitina's Uptown on Saturday, July 18th. I hope you will be able to join us for what I'm sure will be an inspiring night of music, and love in one of the greatest cities for music in the country. For more information about the band, musicians, our upcoming gigs, and more check out the band's page at http://www.playingforchange.com/band.

I hope to connect with you at one of our shows soon. In the meantime, keep following and sharing the music!

One Love,
Mark Johnson

In a time where there is so much hate in the world with wars and violence everywhere, Playing for Change is a much welcome effort. We at Talents For Asia STRONGLY support Playing For Change and we would also like to state that we have nothing but the highest respect for the musicians who gave their time to do good with their craft, thus using the union of music positively.

Playing For Change is a movement to connect the world through music. Sign up for exclusive content, news and updates from hundreds of musicians and students around the globe at http://playingforchange.com

The act of playing music with people of different cultures, religions, economics and politics is a powerful statement. It shows that we can find ways of working together and sharing our experiences with one another in a positive way. Music has the power to break down the walls between cultures, to raise the level of human understanding.; Mark Johnson, founder, Playing for Change
