Easy Steps to Installing the MikroTik RouterOS

1. Booting via CDROM.
2. Choose the package that will be installed as shown in the following menu:

   (*) Advanced-Tools	(*) RouterBOARD	(*) User Manager

   (*) Hotspot	(*) RSTP Bridge-test	(*) Wireless
   (*) ISDN	(*) Security	(*) Wireless-test

   Should select only the packages that are available (press â € ~ aa € ™), if its hard disk capacity is sufficient. If all the packages to install, only takes about 100 MB of hard disk capacity. While the minimum RAM required only about 32 MB. Large RAM (maximum of 1 GB, 64 MB or more recommended) is required if the Web Proxy package is run, and should also be supported by hard disk capacity of both the large and fast enough (like 80 GB 7200 RPM).

    a - configure ip address and gateway
    d - setup dhcp client
    s - setup dhcp server
    p - setup pppoe client
    t - setup pptp client
    x - exit menu
    your choice:
12. Select â € ~ aa € ™ to start the configuration of the IP Address and Gateway. It will show the menu:
    a - add ip address
    g - setup default gateway
    x - exit menu
    your choice:
13. Then select another â € ~ aa € ™, it will appear:
    enable interface: ether1 (just hit ENTER) ip address / netmask: 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0 (example)
14. Then, the gateway setup (select â € ~ ga € ™). Enter the Gateway IP Address.
    for example: 192.168.0.254
15. Select â € ~ xA € ™ to end configuration.
16. The next step, try accessing the MikroTik RouterOS already installed earlier from another computer. Open browser, type http://192.168.0.1. Then download the application from the front page winbox.exe browser.
17. Use winbox.exe Mikrotik had to go into the next, with the admin login and no password. You should immediately change its password immediately, do not be left blank, from the Users menu or Password.
18. The next step is to add the IP address for another interface (from the IP menu â € "Address), or from the menu of New Terminal (console) by typing the ip address add address = 10.10.10.1/255.255.255.0 network = 10.10.10.0 broadcast = 10:10 .10.255 interface = ether2.
    
19. Then, after ENTER, type the ip firewall nat add chain = src-nat src-address = 10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0 out-interface = ether1 action = masquerade. Assuming, clients will be served on the 10.10.10.0/24 network or 10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0
20. To speed up resolving domain-name, enable the DNS cache by choosing IP â € "DNS. Enter the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS are obtained from the upstream provider. For example: 202.155.0.10 and 202.155.0.20. Then put in the â € œAllow Remote Requestsâ €. Or type in the ip dns set primary-dns = 202.155.0.10 secondary-dns = 202.155.0.20 allow-remote-requests = yes from the console.
21. RouterOS is ready to operate. For some cases need to optimize the settings for network performance more stable.
